Craft Template [PDF] Click here
Disposable cups
Crayons or colored pencils
Tape, scissors
Duration:
Approximately 15 minutes
Preparation:
Each child in class will need three disposable cups and a copy of the craft template. For best results print or copy the craft template on card stock.
What you will do:
Give each of the children a craft template, 3 disposable cups and a pair of scissors. Give the children several minutes to color the craft template using colored pencils or crayons.
Next, instruct the kids to cut out the images of Rahab, the spies and the three flax stalks. The kids will then turn the cups upside down and tape one flax stalk to each cup. Then, have the kids fold the base of Rahab and the spies along the dashed line just below the character's sandals so that the figures become free-standing.
Explain that once the craft has been completed it becomes a guessing game that the children can play with their friends. To play the game one player will close his or her eyes while the child that is "It" hides the spies under one of the cups. When the child that is "It" says, "okay" the other player opens his or her eyes and points to the cup he or she thinks is hiding the spies. If the player guesses correctly, he or she become "It" and gets to hide the spies during the next game.
